The Human

I saw him walk home,
Lonely, forlorn.
I called out,
But he did not hear,
For in his ears,
Silence domineered,
On a forgotten road,
He disappeared,
His voice left behind,
I followed him,
His voice my guide,
I took steps,
And more steps,
Towards his rambling,
But he had gone,
Far away,
And in mortal time,
His voice too faded,
Leaving me abandoned,
Stranded, I realized,
Time had took,
My human away.
